The UK and EU reached a deal to remove Brexit checks on food and animal product imports and exports, including sausages, cheese, leather goods, and flowers. The agreement is expected to take effect in the first quarter of 2028.

British food exporters have seen trade with Europe drop by a third since 2019. Smaller UK retailers such as delicatessens have faced obstacles buying smaller batches of cheese and wines due to the cost of Brexit checks introduced in 2022. The deal aims to address these barriers.
