Unrig the Economy and Americans for Tax Fairness released an analysis showing that more than 1.5 million Latinos nationwide have lost food assistance under SNAP cuts enacted through a Republican tax law. The cuts occurred after the law passed, with roughly half of all affected Latino SNAP recipients nationwide losing benefits across just seven states since July 2025.
Leor Tal, Campaign Director for Unrig Our Economy, said the cuts took food assistance away to pay for tax breaks for billionaires and big corporations. Jodie Rubenstein, Executive Director of Americans for Tax Fairness, stated that Trump and GOP allies in Congress cut nutrition assistance to deliver tax giveaways to billionaires and business elites, with working families and communities of color bearing the brunt of the policies.
The organizations released the analysis in English and Spanish.
