ICE officials view the technology as a force multiplier that reduces risk to personnel during high-risk operations without replacing human agents.
This purchase reflects a broader trend across federal law enforcement agencies adopting robotic technology. Other agencies, including the New York Police Department, have experimented with robot dogs before withdrawing them following public backlash over privacy concerns and militarization fears.
